Hi Eric! I think the red foreground beastie is working really well. Putting on my critiquing hat, I think the human warrior isn't doing quite as much for me - the pose seems a little uncertain, and I'm not sure whether he's about to swing his sword or guard himself with it, lunge forward or fall back in terror.
I love the face, but you might want to play around with the rest of his body a bit to make the storytelling clearer. You could even give him a shield or something to fill the lower right corner, but that's just a matter of taste. Love the monster, though!
Thanks Mark! You're totally right, the human gesture needs to be more certain. This was supposed be a quick compositional sketch, but I got on a roll... Changes will be posted!
